If you are thinking of buying a new petrol SUV, then the next 2-3 months are going to be very special for you. Maruti, Hyundai and Tata Motors are going to launch their new SUVs. Maruti will bring its second offering in the midsize SUV segment, while Hyundai is ready to launch its third-generation Venue. Tata Motors is also not behind and will simultaneously bring three new petrol SUVs – Punch Facelift, Harrier Petrol and Safari Petrol. Let’s know the engines and launch details of all these vehicles.
Maruti Escudo
Maruti’s new midsize SUV is currently known by the codename Escudo. It will be given a new name at the time of launch. This SUV will be based on the Grand Vitara but will be sold only from Arena dealerships. It can get 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L petrol-hybrid and CNG engines. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be given in it.

New-Gen Hyundai Venue
The new-generation Hyundai Venue will get major design and feature updates. The engine options will remain the same as they are currently available –
- 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol
- 1.0L turbo petrol
- 1.5L diesel
Talking about the features, it is expected to have dual 12.3-inch screen setup, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof and upgraded ADAS.

Tata Punch Facelift
The 2025 facelift model of the Tata Punch can take inspiration from the Punch EV in terms of design and features. It can be given a larger touchscreen, touch-based HVAC panel and a new steering wheel. There will be no change in the engine. It will get a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine (87bhp, 115Nm) as before. Gearbox options will also remain the same – 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.
Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol
The petrol version of Tata’s two big SUVs – Harrier and Safari – will be launched in November. Both these vehicles will get Tata’s new 1.5L TGDi turbo petrol engine, which will generate 170bhp power and 280Nm torque. It will have both manual and automatic gearbox options. No major changes are expected in the design.
